If you want my opinion, take the 64GB model which is cheaper and plan to change the SD card inside anyway, as it is of very poor quality when it works.
Otherwise, overall very satisfied for now.
I think I can enjoy it when I'm feeling bored sometimes.

It has some favorite games i used to play, and has some games i never knew existed that are about anime characters from my childhood. It is extremely nostalgic, and i'm glad to have it! I've already gotten great satisfaction using this device, and i'm pleasantly surprised at its quality.
Ultra-functional R36 portable console, turns on and is ready to play. It has about 500 games loaded. Variety of Nintendo, PlayStation 1, Game Cube, PSP, etc.
It doesn't come with Super Mario 64 or GTA.
For the price of $800, it's acceptable.
The Emuelec operating system does not seem like a clone, its performance meets expectations. I changed the micro SD to a Kingston one and the charging is faster, and you can be sure it won't fail since the cards they come with are not of good quality.
I bought 2 more for other friends who fell in love with it when they saw it.
Negative point: the PS1 games are super playable, but everything else becomes difficult.
It has an exaggerated list of games, but I was surprised by the number of games for the PS1.

For consoles like gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance, super nintendo, famicom, and super famicom and more, it runs very well.
The sound is good, and the screen is beautiful. However, the device feels very fragile in terms of build quality — it’s not premium plastic, more on the cheap side. The triggers are quite loud and cannot be used silently.
Despite these issues, it is an excellent portable console, delivers on what it promises, and the battery life is impressive.

The console works very well and has many languages. It is easy to use. The screen is very large and looks amazing. and this model is a very good version apart from the fact that the joysticks light up. I recommend it without a doubt. The shipment arrived earlier than expected and was very well packaged.
This is a fully pick-up-and-play device that most reasonably tech-savvy people will enjoy, but advanced users familiar with emulation will get the most out it. It emulates many consoles and vintage computer systems flawlessly up to psx level. It can also emulate psp, dreamcast, and n64 games with varying results (you'll have to experiment to figure out which ones it can handle).
Adding games is easy; just pop the sd card into your computer and put additional roms into their correct folders. (if you have to ask where to get more roms, you should probably just stick to what's already on the machine, lol.)
As always, clone (not copy) that cheap microsd card that comes with it to a better card asap.

It has a large screen and runs games for PSP, PS1, N64... and many other retro systems.
With a little information, you can install Arkos, an operating system better than the one that comes with the console.
It has wifi and works well.
The only downside is that the rear buttons are a bit noisy, but that's normal for a console of this type.

But this is the children's hassle. Training them to be proficient.

Positive: good cross button, analog sticks and screen, adding ROMs is not complicated, console games up to 16 bits work perfectly, the same goes for PSX and Openbor, the emulation of N64, Dreamcast, Saturn and PSP is average but understandable.
Negative: I ordered a 128 GB memory, but it's one of those "trash" memories. If the storage capacity is 88 GB, it's better to order the 64 GB one and then buy a better quality memory and add games yourself. Another negative aspect is that the "X Y A B" buttons are comfortable, but there are times when they need to be pressed twice because sometimes they don't respond. The L1-2 R1-2 buttons are very hard and sound very loud. Some emulators don't work or I still can't figure out how to make them run. These are the ones for Sega Mega CD, PC Engine CD, MSX.
The only thing that could come in the manual are the shortcut buttons, like how to save, etc., and I'm also not able to add games to favorites.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful 720p resolution, played a couple of games all ran fine so far.
Retroarch is setup well, all you need to know 2 things to get along well is how to save & exit games. Learn that before anything else especially if your new to emulation.

The r36 ultra is a great device. I own an original r36s and simply wanted to try out a larger display. I'm happy with it, except that all four of the rear buttons rattle, but that's fixable. Only one 1gb ram module is installed; the rest of the hardware (cpu and shipset) is the same as the r36s. Wi-fi is also installed and works well.
The operating system is not arkos, but emuelec 4.7 from 2024.
Arkos for clones can be installed (flashed), though.
Overall, i'm very satisfied, especially since i paid less than €20.
Don't expect smooth running games for dc and psp, but its doable.

As a recommendation, buy an extra SD card of the same capacity as your console and save an ISO or IMG image to have a backup in case of damage to the console's SD card.
It is possible to set the Italian language for the menus.
I still don't fully understand how backups work.

Now, comparing the ArkOS system of the original R36S with the EmuElec of this Ultra, I completely understand the criticisms towards the latter, which is much less versatile and user-friendly.
If you replace the SD card that comes with the product with your own, make sure it is formatted in FAT32 or it won't read it!

If i had one complaint. . . It was that the inner lining of the box which is molded to take this little console. . Was damaged,, h but i only opened one of them and the machine itself was undamaged. . Hopefully its a one off and i am not blaming the seller necessarily as the package has probably been through several sets of hands. . If the other boxes are similarly damaged i will complain to the seller and may return any damaged ones. . . The console itself is excellent. Buy one. !
